Trevor was a man with a brilliant mind. They often say that those who know what the world is really like are prone to depression, because they understand more. He was a prime example of this. In college, he had been a man with brilliant aspirations. He wanted to fix the world. When he got out, he immediately took a job at Hope Grove.
Here, years ago, he met Mary. Mary had dissociative identity disorder, schizophrenia, and was incredibly suicidal. In his treatment of her, he thought that he could fix her. The drugs he prescribed her made her better. He thought that she would be a winning victory. He even fell deeply in love with her. And then Mary committed suicide.
He had been allowed to bring her back to his house, for treatment. Except she had been faking it, faking getting ‘better’. She used his knives to slit her wrists open. He found her, his precious Mary, pale and lifeless on his bathroom floor.
After that, Trevor couldn’t make himself care as much. He tried. There were these walls around him now. He remained at Hope Grove, despite it reminding him of her, because the paycheck was easy. He used to work with the patients out of compassion. These days, he does it just to get through his shift.
