Born to a prestigious family of doctors, Alex started out with a good life. He was trained from a young age, taught that he was going to be a doctor. And he excelled at his studies, having an excellent understanding of the human body. But his passion wasn’t to get a job in a fancy hospital and settle down to live the American dream. Instead, he enlisted in the army to serve his country. His family did everything they could to stop him, but Alex was determined to do what he felt was right.

But it wasn’t anything like he expected. With his skills, Alex was immediately shipped off to Iraq to provide medical support for a regiment there. He worked there for a year in horrible conditions. Living in in danger and stitching up wounded soldiers on the go. He saw more death than any man should have to see in that year. Blood, gore and pain were his constant companion. Living in sweaty tents with men crying for help, eating meager rations and doing everything he could to stay sane.

But their camp was raided. Alex was hanging onto sanity by a thread, but the fear that had been eating at him got to be too much. Pushed into a blind panic, Alex ran. He left men screaming, crying for help, but he didn’t escape. Their building was brought down and a pillar landed on Alex’s leg, crushing it. He was captured along with the other survivors, held in jail for an entire year before U.S. forces broke them out. Alex was taken back to his family a different man. A broken man. And a cripple. He had only one leg now, and though it was replaced with a prosthetic, it wasn’t the same. Just like the rest of him. He panicked at any thought of healing, being a doctor was no longer an option. He couldn’t function as a normal person anymore, and his family had no room for anyone less than perfect. They got in touch with Hope Grove and Alex was diagnosed with extremely severe PTSD. And Alex’s family had a way to be rid of him.

Cameron Lennox ⁑ 17 ⁑ Orderly in Training ⁑ Austin Butler ⁑ CLOSED

B A C K G R O U N D

Cameron grew up in the Lennox clan, the youngest of five siblings. Far too young to understand the family drama and schisms that were roiling underneath the surface, he grew up blissfully unaware of the turmoil around him as his elder siblings got shipped off to this or that boarding school. Though he maintained a friendly relationship with most of them, it was his older brother, Asher, that he truly looked up to. He was the unruly one, the wayward son who did as he pleased without a care in the world. Through his constant fiascos, bringing in a different girl home every night, delinquency arrests, and occasional OD’s, Asher became Cameron’s role model growing up, though the youngest Lennox never let on as much.

With Eli and Adrienne off working, and Ronan having long since departed to hitchhike his way into the great unknown, that left Asher and Cameron to hold down the fort. But as Asher, in his own subtle ways, tried to rock the boat and plunge the knife of their parents’ rivalry deeper, he was struck with an ultimatum. With Asher gone, the house became quiet, far too quiet for Cameron’s liking. Finding his studies a bore, and the people in school along with it, he applied for a job as an orderly in training at Hope Grove, Asher’s new workplace. Partly to torment his older brother, and partly for a chance to be with him again (though he would never admit that), Cameron packed his bags, dropped out of high school, and headed for Hope Grove.

Nikole Upton ⁑ 23 ⁑ Alice in Wonderland Syndrome & Paranoid Schizophrenia (undiagnosed) ⁑ Jessica Parker Kennedy ⁑ CLOSED

B A C K G R O U N D

Once upon a time, Nikole was just a quiet girl with an overactive imagination, according to her parents. If she sometimes described things as growing or shrinking, or if she thought she was too large to go through a door she could clearly fit into, or too small to sit at a table that was just her size, well. It was just her imagining herself like Alice from the story she had loved so much as a child.

It was the continuation of those imagined size problems as she got into her high school and adult years that were the problem. Nikole didn’t understand the difference between what she was perceiving and the reality of what others saw - if she felt too large to move out of her room for fear of breaking something in her attempts to move, then she may as well have been, for it was all one and the same for her. She didn’t know what was wrong with her, but she thought it was just her parents not believing her. If they didn’t believe her, then they were the ones in the wrong.

As she got into adulthood, Nikole started to struggle with reality more and more, ultimately leading her parents to seek out professional help for her. No one could quite nail down what was wrong with her for a long time. Schizophrenia was suggested at one time, but with the symptoms of AIWS covering up anything else, they have yet to be able to nail down what precisely is wrong with her. It was in hopes of curing the AIWS and figuring out what else might be going on under the surface that her parents finally sent her to Hope Grove, where she’s been for the past three years.

She’s been in isolation now for about a month and a half, after an instance where she attacked a fellow patient who startled her on a day when she saw herself as tiny and him as huge. The patient is living, but Nikole hasn’t seen him since. She believes that he has shrunk and that’s why she can’t seem to find him now, for she wants to apologize for harming him in the first place.

Fern was never the good girl her parents always wished that she would be. She went to parties and got high all the time to make all of her troubles go away. Her parents were always in the way of her happiness, all she wanted to be was free of them. So, one night she stabbed her parents both to death. Just like that. Now of course, she wasn’t exactly sober when she did the awhful deed, she had a little help with her buddies on the side. Fern also wasn’t one to make friends easily. You could call her your everyday typical bitch figure. Fern didn’t let anyone get to close to her to gain her trust. She also didn’t believe in love, nor had she ever experienced it. She didn’t think she wanted to either.

Chase Roden ⁑ 21 ⁑ Orderly ⁑ Tyler Posey ⁑ CLOSED

B A C K G R O U N D

Chase came from a good family with good values, and they raised their children to be the epitome of the all american family. Despite being adopted, the Roden’s always made sure that he never felt out of place within the four walls, giving him everything he could have ever wished for. And though he had the best of all things, he always wanted to know where he came from, what lead to his good fortune in finding such a loving family. But for some reason, the Roden’s would get upset, if not irate, at his inquisitions.
The older he got, the more curious he became at his own personal roots. He loved his family, respected his father, adored his mother. But there was a fire fueled within him that just needed to know. Who would he have been had he not been adopted, had he not been granted such a good life. His explorations lead him through a haphazard mess of files that were sealed, information that wasn’t granted to him, but one name on the file stuck out clear: Hope Grove Asylum. Had he been the child of two crazy individuals? Was the possible mental illness of his parents something genetic?
This hindered his questions for a while, scared to find out what would come of his investigation. And in the meanwhile, Chase headed off to college, garnering himself a degree in Nursing, with minors in Psychology much to the surprise of his family. They’d half expected him to wind up pursuing a career in Business or maybe even Sports, but Medicine? They hadn’t seen that much coming. And when he stepped out of the halls of school with his degree in hand, Hope Grove once again came to the forefront of his mind. It took a while, a month or two, but he did wind up putting in the application. It wasn’t long before he was rung up, having been in the top of his class. He’s been working at Hope Grove ever since.
While Chase is furthering his pursuit of schooling, having been accepted to Med School to become a doctor, he finds that his studying hasn’t stopped at anatomy and papers on the latest New England Journal. Some nights, the young Orderly can be found in the filing room, searching for the keys to who he is. Despite the trouble it could land him in. In the mean time, he is the kindest Orderly in the building, often fighting with the other staff at the treatment of some of the patients. Some would say that one day, his overwhelming kindness could land him in some serious trouble.

Alexandra Marshall ⁑ 17 ⁑ Depression & Self Harm ⁑ Acacia Brinley ⁑CLOSED

B A C K G R O U N D

In Oklahoma lived a family, you couldn’t have described them as the perfect family, but they couldn’t be labeled as the worst family either. Alexandra grew up in a cosy house along with her smaller brother. Their parents were believers and they expected their kids to follow their religious paths. However, Alexandra had grown up in a non-religious school that taught her to believe whatever she wished, and she wished to not believe. Her parents had difficulties in their everyday life, the father was found to be cheating, the mother turned to alcohol, leaving their son and daughter to themselves. Alexandra started having problems in school due to the instability of her home. Forgetting homework and falling asleep in classes was just a mild detail, but what really started affecting her were the laughing and accusing children in the playground. Rumors circulated very quickly through their school, and so her family’s problems followed her until high school. Nothing changed for sweet Alex. She would try and make a cup of tea to her mother, try and suggest quitting drinking, but it would always end up the same, she’d receive the back of her hand. One day she came in school with a black eye, which worried the school, Alexandra was never one to lie, and so she told the truth once again. Alexandra and her little brother were both taken away from their homes, and sent into foster homes while their parents were being judged. Of course they never came back home. Alexandra was worst than she’d ever been. She stopped eating, her mood started getting darker, but she never stopped trying to make friends with the people in her school, even with their mocking laughs surrounding her and following her through the corridors. Once her school had noticed her mental state, they believed that the right thing to do was to send her to a correct psychiatric hospital, and they chose Hope Grove.

So how long is the violent character ban going to be up?

It might be up for a while, love. We’re simply trying to get a balance of different types of characters, but since we still have a large amount of violent characters, it’s hard to determine.
